Little C
The Coolhaven waterfront area has become an urban stepping stone in the city of Rotterdam. A mix of housing, offices, commercial and retail spaces has been built in a grid within a refined urban fabric.
The design of this urban neighbourhood presents an ensemble of relatively small buildings that intuitively relate to the human scale. To anchor the site within the city, the plan incorporates existing pedestrian and cycling routes and respects the alignments of adjacent streets. The transition between public and private space has been softened through the use of porches, balconies, and architectural relief. The project offers a living experience with experiential depth, across a wide range of loft types and sizes.
This new urban area now functions as a hybrid between a super-dense city block, a campus, and a village.
